Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole SAN

Professor Abdulwahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, is a Nigerian legal scholar, advocate, and academic administrator who serves as the 11th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin. A native of Ile-Ife, Osun State, Egbewole earned his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1984. He was called to the Nigerian Bar as a solicitor and advocate in August 1985 and subsequently earned higher degrees in law.
​Over a career spanning more than two decades at the University of Ilorin, Egbewole has served in numerous academic and administrative capacities. Joining the institution as a Lecturer II in 1997, he rose through the ranks to become the Acting Head of Department, Sub-Dean, Acting Dean, and Dean of the Faculty of Law. He also served as the Director of the General Studies Division and was a member of the university’s Senate and Governing Council prior to his elevation to Professor of Jurisprudence and International Law in 2012.
​In addition to his academic contributions, Egbewole is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN)—a title recognizing distinction in the legal profession. He has authored and edited publications on jurisprudence, international law, and human rights, and holds active memberships in organizations such as the Nigerian Bar Association, the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers, and the International Bar Association. He assumed office as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin in October 2022.
